Mountain Shores

We are finally back from holidays. I say finally because it feels like a life time even if it was only 9 days. Things are so different when you don't have to do the mundane, thoughtless things of the everyday like laundry and house cleaning. How nice it is to have someone clean your bathroom and make your beds every morning and with my sister and mom around I did very little cooking.

We stayed in cabin/motel in a great resort outside of Creston, BC. on Kootenay Lake. Mom and Bonnie came with Holden and her inlaws brought their new trailer for a few days with Bonnie's husband Greg. Mom's friends Ken and Amy stay there for most of the summer and have a spot of their trailer.

Basically I sat either at the pool or the lake and watched the kids swim. Somehow we managed to outlast everyone else who came to the pool.

This is a picture of all the grand children in front of a tree outside of our cabin. Hanna (8yrs), Kyle(3years) and Holden (6 months). They are so precious.

Funny Things

I have been writing down funny things the kids do or say that I want to remember, here are a few of them. I don't know if you will find them quite as funny or cute as we do but have fun reading about my 2 little angels.

Kyle was very sick and I was getting bored of having him hang all over me so I asked him if he wanted to practice math? He is only 3 but can count to 13 and knows about up to 5 really well. I showed him 1 finger plus one finger and he said 2 and then I did 2 fingers plus 2 fingers and he said, “Mom that’s not 2 that’s 4”

Hanna has been learning nutrition in school and has been analyzing the ingredients on the food we eat. Especially on the cereal box in the mornings. One day I bought them a treat and we were sitting in the van and Kyle was looking intently on the front of the box and says very matter of factly “Yep, this has sugar!” Which is what Hanna usually says.

Kyle spilled chocolate milk all over his bare chest and told me he was cleaning it off and I asked how because he was strapped in a car seat and there was nothing to clean it off with. As I looked at him he licked his hand and wiped it across his chest and said “with my germs”.

Hanna likes to listen to mini pops and they have the song I like from James Blunt “you’re beautiful” on the CD so she likes to sing along. However for my birthday Keith bought me the actual CD and as she was singing the song his version has a “f” word in it and her eyes grew bigger and said to me “ well maybe he did know kids would like the song” Oh so innocent.

Happy birthday!

I threw myself a bit of a birthday party. I love birthdays and parties so why not? I decided this year to do a scavenger hunt/car rally. Oh what fun!!!!! There were only 12 of us but it has never been an easy time of the year to get a lot of friend together all at once. Everyone is always on holidays.
We had to do crazy things like get a picture on a horse and do a Chinese fire drill (picture below). Good thing for digital cameras so we could be sure that each team did what was asked of them, also the most creative pictures got the most points. Other things we had to do was get a $1.00 receipt for gas and 32 chocolate coated candies all the same color. I highly recommend playing this game some time. Good Times!!!!

Swimming lessons

Kyle has been taking swimming lesson and tomorrow will be the last day. That is when we see if he passes or not. They did not spend much time doing any actual swimming, just getting the kids used to the water.

He is not afraid of anything. This I know! He is always the fist to jump in, or go down the slide or swing off the rope. He was even allowed to jump off the diving board, with life jackets of course!

Zoo

Hanna went to the zoo on her last full day of school and I decided to finally take in a field trip. I think all the elementary schools from Calgary and area must have been there is was crazy.
However, we had a great time.

I love the monkeys, and I don't just mean the kids!!! They are my favorite!

This is Hanna and her good friend Cally. They love spending time together. It was nice to see how she interacts with her friends at school. I am a bit surprised at how social she is because I always thought she was a bit shy.
