Hanna does not want much to do with hockey. She does not like being cold and the skates hurt her feet. Keith has always said to her "girls can play hockey also". He used to take her to the hurricanes games with him just hoping one day she would want to play.

Kyle on the other hand has loved hockey and any sport for that matter, since the day he was born. He used to prefer football on TV to cartoons. So here he is, old enough to play Initiation Hockey. He can hardly wait to get up in the morning and get the gear on and go out onto the ice. He is not the best nor the worst player on the team but he is improving every practice.
So far I have been lucky and Keith has been around to take him to all the practices but this morning Keith had to work and I had to be "HOCKEY MOM!!!!!". Yikes, what happened to our deal? I was very nervous and a bit frightened to see him out there on the ice, falling on his butt. What if he gets hurt?
When we get there I have to get him dressed and I don't even know where to start. At least Kyle knows and he had to tell me about all the equipment like the "cup" and how it protects his "peepee".
I did ask a very nice father to help me out and guide me through the process. "Thank you Adam!"
Now what? Just sit in the stands and watch I guess. For 1 1/2 hours I have to watch a practice and very early in the morning for a Saturday. I was prepared not to be bored. I brought 100 things to do during that time, read a book, wordsearch, maybe some writting. Are you kidding! Seeing your own child out on the ice is exciting and heart racing. watching him skate, slow and fast, falling down, getting back up, shooting a puck and tripping other kids because he does not know how to stop. It was great!!! "Hockey Mom" here I come! Well lets not push it. I will still leave a lot of it up to Keith but I am sure I will be at more games than I had originally thought.
He got off the ice with the biggest smile ever. He was in heaven and so tired he could hardly stand up any more. He was the cutest thing any mother could ever hope for. "Way to go Kyle!" I will always be your "Hockey Mom!"

Jenny,
Setiously, "PEE-PEE"!!!! What is that? You are too funny.
You are a total "hockey mom"! You're going to be the mom that beats up other moms in the stands and yells at the ref for making bad calls. I can see it all now...
